{"id":177,"date":"2011-10-20T19:33:39","date_gmt":"2011-10-20T19:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.collaborativepracticechicago.com\/hp_wordpress\/archives\/177"},"modified":"2014-10-05T02:39:53","modified_gmt":"2014-10-05T02:39:53","slug":"parenting-with-your-ex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.collaborativepracticechicago.com\/hp_wordpress\/archives\/177","title":{"rendered":"Parenting with your&hellip; EX?!?!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hear people say, when their divorce is final, \u201cI\u2019m so glad I don\u2019t have to deal with him\/her anymore.\u201d\u00a0 While that is never really true [future post on that], it is most certainly inaccurate when you two have had children.<\/p>\n<p>You want what\u2019s best for your children.\u00a0 And ALL the research indicates that what\u2019s best for them is a continuing relationship with BOTH of their parents who themselves have a positive working relationship with each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBUT S\/HE MAKES ME CRAZY!?!?!?\u201d, you say.\u00a0 What can you do?\u00a0 How can you work WITH this person whom you just divorced?\u00a0 How can you keep your own temper in check, how can you keep from triggering his\/her temper?\u00a0 How do you get heard without believing you have to YELL, how can you get things done and decisions made without\u2026it\u2026taking\u2026\u2026..for\u2026ever?!<\/p>\n<p>No one is saying you are a bad person if you can\u2019t.\u00a0 It\u2019s understandable.\u00a0 It\u2019s, unfortunately all too common.\u00a0 But if you want to be able to work with your ex, if you want to do what is best for you children, there is help available.<\/p>\n<p>One source of such help is an upcoming free webinar being offered by Cat Zavis.\u00a0 Ms. Zavis is an experienced coach and teacher of NonViolent Communication.
